What Causes Fever Along With Headache And Cold?

I had a fever two days back with headache after drinking a sip of cold water at 5 am. The fever was chilling, but there was no cold and cough, no abdominal pain, motion normal. The doctor check my glucose and blood pressure and said normal. He gave me some anti viral medicine. Today is the third day and in the morning i still felt little feverish and cold and once i took the medicine it was under control does it means It is suppressing the fever but not cure?
