What Causes Feeling Of Disorientation While On Gabapentin And Tramadol?

I am concerned about my brother in law who just went through surgery last week for an abdominal tumor.He is 75 and in a military rehabilitation unit right now until he regains his strength to go home.Prior to being moved to the rehabilitation unit he was in good spirits and very clear minded.He is being given 100 mg of Gabapentin three times a day and had been receiving the drug tramadol also.He has become confused and delusional in the past couple of days since being moved from the hospital to this military rehabilitation unit.Our concerns are that he is being over medicated. We believe that if we stand idly by he will not recover but continue to decline in mental and physical health.

It is possible that the medication is affecting his mental function. Both of the medications mentioned can cause confusion in some persons. When the medication is discontinued then he may return to normal function.
You should consider speaking to his doctors about your concerns.
