What Causes Feeling Of Bloating All The Time?

hello, I m a 19 year old female who is extremely active and eats a very strict, healthy diet. Unfortunately, I experience bloating almost every day, and I ve taken note that so does my family. I think it may be something genetic. I m interested in finding any effective over the counter pills I can take to get rid of the bloating. Also, I m also interested in perhaps seeing a doctor about this issue, and would like to know of any prescribed pills that I can ask about. Thank you! Brittany Silva

Hello Brittany
This bloating is not a disease but a disorder , habit and nature of an individuals .
Bloating may be due to these reasons , these include:
1 Hyper acidity or gastritis . Try raising the head of your bed about 4 inches with blocks. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for 2-3 hours before you liw down. To control stomach acid ( main reason of bloating with indigestion ) one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolates or pizza or burger or spicy or oily or greasy foods.
Also take some enzyme preparation ( OTC ) but if bloating is severe you may need drugs like pantaprazole-D once or twice in day on empty stomach ( 1 hour before meal ).
2 The next reason of such symptoms is tension or anxiety , so be careful about that also.
3 On the name of HEALTHY eating , overeating is another reason of such symptoms , so avoid this and you will get relief without any medicine .
Still no relief then consult a physician and get his opinion.
Good luck.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Bloating can be related to different possible causes including the use of particular foods.

The foods that are most commonly associated with bloating are: beans, broccoli, cabbage, turnips, brussel sprouts, carbonated drinks, asparagus, lettuce, some fruits such as apple/pears and peaches.
It may also be related to lactose intolerance or intolerance to particular foods.

Celiac disease can also be associated with this problem.

In terms of medication, the meds used for GERD are normally also used for bloating. This includes nexium, prilosec, prevacid, aciphex, protonix

I hope this helps
