Hi can i have an opion pls regarding my 8 year son who has bowel problems with quiet a while is attending a peadtrician with no joy as such. Is leaking quite a lot at times, passes quiet big poos all the time like an adult. Was giving movicol last year to clear him out as xray showed he was full even though he goes for poos twice a day said the bowel was quiet large due to this. After a month gp had to stop moviccol as it stopped the child from making poos completly, duplac dont seem to do nothing either. This is becomin a major issue at this point.. Could the child have a blockage in the upper part of the bowel and not necesarily show up in xray. There is no end to this at this point. i did ask could he be put to sleep to be washed out in which i was told no. I feel theres more going on and peadtrician is not qualified enough where bowel issues are concerned. Thank u for ur time. Appreciate ur opion. Email: YYYY@YYYY . Thanking you margaret.
I totally understand your concern about your child. It’s good that you consulted pediatricians regarding the issue. Have you noticed any food item that has been added to your kid’s diet which might lead to this?
The symptoms have different etiology which include infection, food poisoning, food item allergy, autoimmune cause, etc.
To know the exact reason, I would suggest you see a gastroenterologist.
The doctor will take a proper history and run some tests if needed. After knowing the exact cause behind that, he will be able to guide you with appropriate treatment for your child.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
