General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
Your symptoms suggest more of intestinal infection caused by parasite mostly giardia.
This cause mal-absorption and cause weight reduction, and abdominal pain.
I would advise
* To start on drug such as tinidazole single dose which will be effective in most of the cases.
* In case of recurrence consult your physician, get stool ova studies done and get treated accordingly.
* This condition can be effectively controlled by drugs.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
I find this answer helpful
