Hello, Thanks for the query.
Falgyl (metronidazole) is having action agaist protozoa like E. histolyitca (amoeba). While patient is having amoebiasis and is on treatment, there is possibility of digestive process being affected. This can lead to presence of unabsorbed fat as fat globules in the stools. That is not unusual, unless there is excess fat loss as happens in steatorrhea. Normally in stools there are a lot of bacteria seen, because our intestines do contain a variety of microorganisms which form the normal flora. This helps maintain normal healthy environment. Plus these bacteria also help in preventing pathogenic bacteria from growing and causing diseases. Thanks.
