What Causes Fast Heart Beats After Eating Something?

After I eat anything my heart starts beating fast and hard and I feel like I ate a bucket of food instead of a half sandwich. I have Carsinoid Cancer, but was given a good report by the oncologist. I am going to a Gastro Dr. in 4 days because of digestive issues. Do you have any info for me?? I am 65 years old.

Hi Welcome to HCM.

I understand your concern.Carcinoid Syndrome is especially known to cause autonomic disturbances like elevated heart rate and stomach discomfort. These issues can be corrected primarily through treatment of Carcinoid syndrome/cancer.Drugs like octreotide can play some role in controlling your symptoms. Also beta adrenergic drugs like propranolol are pretty useful in reducing the palpitations.Chemotherapy will also help to control the disease progress.Consult your gastroenterologist with regards to above.POst your further queries,if any.
Thank you.
