What Causes Fainting Episodes In An Elderly Person?

My husband is 63 years old and has been have fainting like spells for over a year. It was just determined 4 days ago that it was due to the medicine Bystolic they caused his heart rate to drop to 50 and below when he walks 10 to 15 feet. it looks like he is have a seizer. Which is not his heart is not pumping enough blood to the brain. To day his heart rate is standing at 48 when walking and now dropping any more. He just had a facular put in his arm for dialyze September 08, 2016. He was told today that he needs a Pacemaker. I feel they should wait a couple more days to see if his heart rate continues to go up and hold. I am not sure his body is stronger enough to have the surgery. Am I on track with my feeling.

hi
thanks for posting on hcm
i suggest you to go ahead with the surgery, once pacemaker is advised waiting further may turn out to be fatal because pacemaker is usually suggested as the last resort in case of heart blocks.
i can understand your concerns regarding his age, but it is usual for patients of this age to be installed with pacemakers, surgeons will go ahead only when they make sure patient is fit for surgery.
hope this gives you some help.
regards
