my mom is 81 general good health has been having episodes where over a period of 20 minutes begins showing signs of someone that is very drunk slurred speech memory lose confusion this is shortly followed by sudden weakness over body can barely stand or walk extremely weak and eventually after some sleep normal

Thank you for sharing this anecdote with us. I would say that it is important that you take your mother to the hospital for a health check up as soon as possible. It sounds like she might be suffering from a condition called TIA ( Transient Ischemic Attack), which basically involves decreased blood supply to the brain for a limited period of time, with complete resolution of the symptoms within 24 hours.
I usually refrain from singling out a diagnosis without more information, however this is an emergency situation.
The chances of getting an actual STROKE are high in the first week following a TIA (TRANSIENT ISCHEMIC ATTACK).
Hence, please do take your mother to the hospital as soon as possible and tell them about the complaints that you have told us here.
I hope that she gets better.
