What Causes Extreme Soreness In The Mouth While Taking Prolia Injection?

Hello, thank you, I am a hashimotos patient and have severe osteoporosis, my medication of prolia injection has made my whole mouth feel unbearably sore, especially my jaw, my teeth are slowly falling out, and breaking off, a chalky sensation and metal taste in my mouth 24/7, my endo says to get another one to see if it is the prolia, but I do not want to. What should I do ? Thank you.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from a severe case of Stomatitis that is a side effect of Prolia that is commonly used medication for Osteoporosis patients..

As you already have severe side effects of Prolia do not get further dosage till symptoms gets better and also prefer a lower dosage..

Along with it, it has severe side effects over the jaw bone and teeth in case if you already have poor oral hygiene maintenance and infection in your teeth and gums which can lead to increased damage to your jaw bones and can loss of teeth..

I would therefore suggest you to consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated so that the exact status of your teeth can be evaluated and in case if anything can be probably done to save your teeth..
For soreness in mouth you can start gargling with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve the symptoms.
You can also take a multivitamin tablet daily..
You can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Suck ice and do cool water rinses..
Avoid spicy food..
