What Causes Extra Heart Beat?

My 57 year old husband was told his holter monitor showed an extra heart beat. He is obese and is hypertensive. He takes benazepril HCL 20 mg and atorvastatin 80 mg and hydrochlorathiazide. He is asymptomatic. What can the possible causes be for an extra heart beat in this type of case?

Hi, thank you for asking healthcare Magic.
For a heart that is functioning normally, there is an area called Sinoatrial node. This area is called the pacemaker of the heart and regulate the rate at which the heart beats. When there is a problem concerning the firing of electrical waves from sinoatrial node or conduction of the electricity generated by this area, some other areas may start firing electrical waves leading to extra heart beat (extrasystole) and irregular heart rate.

I hope I have answered your query
I wish him well
