What Causes Extra Growth Behind The Ear?

Hi Doc, My daughter is 28 yrs old, and she s had this growth behind her ear for about two/three years. It had seen grown bigger and it s very hard and causing her some discomfort. She is a medical student and doing her clinical rotations at Shreport Hopital in Louisiana. She seen doctors there and had biopsy and CT Scan done, and it seems that she needs to do surgery right away. We parents are concern about it since we really don t know much about it. Can you help..tell us a bit what is, how is the surgery, what to expect etc..please Thank you in advance. Marlene, the very concern and worried Mom

Surgery is needed to remove the node and make it biopsy. It is a small surgery not really invasive, but it is necessary to determine the nature of this node.
