Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
what causes sudden servere pain in the rib cage in both the front and back? I am a 30 yr old female and have been having this pain since I was 11. I have had X-rays and an ekg while this was happening and the doctors could only find a low potassium level. Sometimes if I drink something cool real fast it goes away and sometimes I mix celery salt and warm water and it goes away ( I read on a website I had a couple symptoms of pleurisy). There isn t a special time this happens so I can t relate it to stress of a certain food it wakes me up in the middle of the night and is excruciating please help!!
It could be due to conditions like costochondritis. As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
