What Causes Excruciating And Throbbing Pain In Ankle?

I have excruciating and throbbing pain in my ankle. It s worse when I wear a certain pair of sandals. They are not heels, just a slight angle lift. I changed the shoes to flats but still had to walk for work all day. The apartment the top of my ankle that wraps around and the sides are throbbing and soar. 10 out of 10. Not swollen.
