What Causes Excessive Weight Loss While Suffering From Heterotopic Ossification?

My daughter has been told she has Heterotrophic ossification on her ribs which has encased the nerves and mussels. This is extremely painfull and she can t do a lot of everyday living things. Her primary Dr. Sent her to a thurastic surgeon, he told her he s never done surgery on the ribs and he s not going to start now. So her Dr. Sent her for a second opinion, he sent her to the pain clinic. We went to the pain clinic they told her to take Tylenol for the pain and go see a surgeon, and have her primary Dr. Find out why she has lost so much weight and why her bones are so thinning. Where do we go from here? Are there any specialist that deal with Heterotrophic Ossification? Where do we find them?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

We have to rule out possible causes like a malignancy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
