What Causes Excessive Weight Loss And Low Thyroid Levels?
Hello, I ll get right too the problem, my daughter is 43yr and has dropped approx. 40lbs in a short few months and continues to loos weight, she has a goiter and her thyroid levels are very low, the doctor referred her to a special clinic but her appt. is scheduled for May and she continues to loose weight and is not being treated at this time, I m worried about her having a thyroid storm, she also has vomiting but body temp is stable. She can not afford to lose more weight and the goiter looks bigger, she has problems swallowing at times, what can we do to help her, please.

If I were you, I would take my daughter to the hospital. Since she has difficulty in swallowing, may have difficulty in breathing later. I do not understand if you meant a low TSH with low thyroid level, or low FT3, FT4.
Losing weight helps with the first one that means the thyroid gland produces more than normal. I think she needs clinical evaluation and appropriate medication.
A CT scan would probably help to see clearly if the glandular compact esophagus or trachea. Also, it might need to be operated.
