What Causes Excessive Thirst While Suffering From Mouth Ulcer?

Is it normal to be excessively thirsty while you have a sore in your mouth? I have what was probably a canker sore at the roof of my mouth or I scratch my mouth inside while eating something. but it hurts a lot especially when I eat or swallow and I keep swallowing a lot because of a lot of siliva and I m thirsty a lot, so I want to know if that is normal until this heals. I don t remember that happening before. I am putting salt on it until I get home from work to do more treatment.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to inflammation induced by the ulcer. Apply triamcinolone mouth paste for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
