Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The past week i have experienced spontaneous tearing from both eyes. I have punctual plugs for dry eye, but have never had tearing. It started in just one eye when i was out walking in cold air. Now it is occurring while watching the news...no really, it is getting annoying. Thanks i will consult my ophthalmologist
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Excess secretion of tears from the eyes you are experiencing could be due to allergy or presence of foreign body. It can also happen due to blockage in the nasolacrimal duct. Kindly do the following to overcome it. 1. Wash the eyes with cold water several times a day. 2. Do nor rub the eyes as it may aggravate the symptoms. 3. Apply anti-allergic eye drops containing Ketotifen twice a day. 4. Apply artificial tears eye drops at bedtime. 5. Avoid exposure to dust and direct sunlight by wearing appropriate goggles (shades). Kindly visit Opthalmologist to check for nasolacrimal duct patency if the symptoms does not subside by undertaking above measures. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
