What Causes Excessive Sweating And Chills?

My son started having some flu symptoms Saturday. He had sweats and chills yesterday, but those have pretty much subsided. He currently has diarrhea which has been going on since yesterday morning. He is taking Imodium, drinking Gatorade, Sprite and water. He hasn t eaten a lot, a couple pieces of wheat toast. I know there is a ton of flu-like illnesses going around so just wondered if there is a better over-the-counter medication for his diarrhea. He has been sleeping for about 2 days which is very good!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Most likely your son is suffering from a bout of viral diarrhea. It is a self-limiting condition and has to treat symptomatically. Keep him hydrated by giving him frequent sips of water and ORS. Give him light meals as and when he feels like eating. I would advise you to give him prebiotic and probiotic results which will help to restore the normal flora of his intestine and help him to recover faster.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman
