What Causes Excessive Hair Loss After Recovering From Viral Pneumonia?
I am a youthful 71 year old male. Last July I contracted Virile Pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital with a temp of 103.9 and was released four days later to recover at home. My recovery has taken several months and left me dizzy which is now manageable. Now in the last three weeks my hair has begun to fall out at an alarming rate. I ll be bald within a month. (I had a lot of hair to begin with) I am thankful to be alive but this hair loss is very concerning. Any ideas?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Viral pneumonia directly can not cause hair loss. But it can imbalance hormonal environment of the body. This imbalance can lead to baldness. So better to consult endocrinologist and get done blood levels of hormones. You are many need hormone pills to regulate hormones. Once your hormones are normalize, you will be alright.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
