What Causes Excessive Crying And Cranky Behavior While Teething In An Infant?
Hi doctor! My 6 months old baby is teething. She has already got one tooth erupted. Second is about to erupt. She cries at times and gets very cranky these days. She also wakes up 4-5 times at night these days. Should I give some medicine. Is it hurting her too much?
It is common to see infants to be irritant and cry more due to irritation and inflammation of the gums as the milk teeth are under the gums ready to tear the gum and erupt.. The infants also has itching in the gums that can also cause irritation and crying.. You should consult a Pedodontist and get evaluated.. You can be advised to give Ibuprofen drops to your infant if the gums are inflamed. You can also do cool compresses over the gums..
You can apply a thin layer of Lidocaine gel.. You can give freezed teething rings to the baby to bite.. Feed her with plenty of fluids and also give her hard foods like apple, carrot and toasted bread to bite as it will gratify her itching and will ease the symptoms..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
