Hello,

Your kid seems to be suffering from GERD gastroesophageal reflux disease. The previous episode was of acute gastroenteritis. Reflux is common after such episode. Proton pump inhibitors are advised for reflux. You don't need to worry but follow the given instructions

1) Make the kid take plenty of water
2) Kid must be upright for at least 40 min after eating or drinking.
3) Straining during stools to be avoided
4) Chronic cough if any must be treated
5) Avoid spicy acidic foods
6) Proton pump inhibitors are to be advised by a pediatrician as they are not on the counter medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
