What Causes Excess Light Vaginal Blood Discharge Despite Taking Amoxicillin?

I completed seven days of amoxicillin, 500mg 3times daily for a bladder infection 4 days ago. the medicine seemed to work right away with no more painful urination. however, within the last 2 days I am now experiencing excessive, watery, bloody vaginal discharge with sever itching. could this be a side effect or a possible std?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Itching experienced in vagina could be due to infection.
Prolonged antibiotic therapy can cause disturbance in the normal vaginal flora and can lead to growth of abnormal flora responsible for infection and discharge.
I suggest you to get a Pap test done to look for any change in cervical cells and presence of any infectious agent in the vaginal flora.
In case any infection is detected on Pap test, appropriate anti-microbial can be taken to control and treat the infection.
The bleeding could possibly due to inflammatory process.

Thanks and take care
