hi my name is tammy. I am having periods of stinging in my left hip. more of the area between where the back starts into the upper buttock region. if feels like I am getting an injection. feels like the needle going in then a burning sensation. does not last long, but it is happening more. not quiet where you give an injection but close. it is enough to make me think that that something had stung me the first time. thanks tammy

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As there is sharp pricking pain over the narrated region, there can be possible nerve compression over the part giving rise to referred pain in the hip.

It is recommended to undertake an X-ray of the part with your physician for further help. Till that time, primary relief with heating pad application and analgesic as ibuprofen would be best idea.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
