What Causes Episodes Of Hot Flashes Followed By Severe Chills?

Yes, thank you. For several months, I have periodic feelings of severe dehydration. I also have several periods during the day of feeling extremely hot and during that time I sweat a lot. It lasts about 10-15 minutes. Then I become extremely cold. I would love to know the reasons for theses symptoms. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Marilyn

Hello

In females around their 50-ies this is a very common condition caused by menopause or premenopause due to related hormonal changes. Hormonal replacement therapy might help reduce these symptoms and you might need to talk with your doctor on the need for those.

It would also be good to have a TSH test done to make sure thyroid is functioning well because it may cause issues with feeling hot or cold and cause similar symptoms as yours.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
