What Causes Elevation In Pulse Rate?

hi, i have noticed in the last couple of weeks frequent increased pulse rate of 90 to 99. I checked my blood pressure today and it was 112 over 87 with a pulse of 99. I can actually feel my pulse in my chest. Is this something I should be concerned with. No chest pain or other pains associated with this condition.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There is variation is pulse rate is seen with anxiety and physical exertion. Up to 100 is normal.

You can opt for an ECG to rule out cardiac arrhythmias. Conditions like thyroid dysfunction also result in very high pulse rate. You can go for a sleeping pulse rate to get a better assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
