What Causes Elevation In BP Level, anxiety And Recurring Headaches?

Last two Dr. Visits, my BP was elevated approximately 134-135/ 84-85....for the last week on and off (more so the last 4 days) it has felt like the beginning of anxiety attack (w/ some pressure up neck and jaw and ears) but hasn t really gone away....have had a headache on and off (I do get sinus HA and had a sinus infection that took two antibiotics to be rid of it in Mar/early Apr.) I went to CVS Fri and BP was 136/84. Today I have felt the same & went back to CVS (des office had closed ) and BP was 149/90. Of course it has scared me...Will call Dr office and get in to see him tomorrow. I bought NO monitor, brought home. 2 hrs later BP was 129-135/88-90. Took lose dose aspirin and just resting, relaxation & breathing., pushing fluids. Am I doing what I should? Do I need to go to ER ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

No, there is no need for an emergency visit. The blood pressure is considered high blood pressure when the top value (systolic) goes over 140 or the bottom value (diastolic) goes over 90.

If it goes slightly over the only treatment is lifestyle modification such as reducing salt, decreasing fatty foods , increasing fruits/vegetables and increasing exercise.
You do not need to push fluids. One of the reasons of uncontrolled high blood pressure is excess fluids, use 8 glasses of water daily

Most of your values are not within high blood pressure range, only one was right on the border of high blood pressure.

You can try to relax by hobbies or resting and institute lifestyle changes.

I hope this helps
