Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good day to you dr. My main concern is my brothers health, at first cbc result his eosinophil count is 0.08 which is 2points higher than the ref value 0.00 to 0.06 so he was advice to take anthihistamine and antiox for 5 days then 2nd check for cbc resulted that the same count still exist. Now when we go to another hospital for cbc it shows different result the lymphocytes is now higher cause the normal ref value is0.20 -0.40 but his result is 0.45. Is there anything we should be more concerned about this?
Hello, Thanks for the query. Eosinophil count can be up to 2 to 6 %. Slight increase can be there in allergic conditions and in conditions like tropical eosinophelia where count can be as high as 14% plus. If allergic manifestation is treated then counts invariably return to normal. But in some people slightly higher levels may be noticed without any specific symptoms. Similarly with lymphocytes too, even though reference value may range up to 40 % in some slightly higher values are noticed. There is no reason to worry about it. Marginal rise in percentage is mostly harmless. If excessively high counts are there then it is a worry. Otherwise there is no real reason to bother about it. Thanks.
