General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.
Hence, it is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
More frequently reported side effects with its use include: stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal pain, dizziness, anemia and edema.
It is not known to alter blood glucose levels.
Kindly consult your physician for evaluation of diabetic status and follow the advise promptly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
