What Causes Elevated Blood Sugar Levels During Chemotherapy For Crohn S Disease?

My future daughter in law is having chemotheraoy treatments for her Crohns disease. She has developed diabetes millitus (sp) with sugar counts of 200. Is this a known side effect of treatment? No diabetes in her family and she eats a very very healthy restricted diet low in carbs and of course no gluten. Seeing that you folks charge ( not challenged at all) I think I will speak to a few of my physician colleagues. I just have never been confronted with treatment induced diabetes. Perhaps my endocrinologist can fill me in .

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think she has the tendency for autoimmune diseases and that's why she is having Crohn and diabetes too. They are not related otherwise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
