What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

Hi, I am a 74 year old male, weight is 164, Height is 5 10 . For the last few days I ve been taking Tamiflu and battling the flu even though I regularly get a flu shot every year. Recently my weight has fallen from 184 to present number and my blood pressure has elevated to historic values. I took it yesterday morning and it hit my weight number of 184(previous). Calling my doctor he put me on Losartan 100mg and Besylate 5mg. this evening it is still high. I don t know how or why this started, but I usually workout and treadmill is used to walk. Any ideas?

Hi,

Do you take any medicine other than Tamiflu?

There are many reasons for High BP and the main reason is physical and mental stress. As you have flu, it may stress your body.

As your weight is more for your height, it will also add up some physical stress and mental stress to your body that may cause High BP.

My suggestion for you is to do regular exercise and take nutritional diet which makes you fit and you can continue your doctor's prescribed medicines for BP. Try to reduce oily foods and milk products.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Indhu Priyadharshini
