What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

Hallo, I’ve just had my ramapril increased by my gp from 5 to 7.5 and it is 03-43 in the morning. My blood pressure is 168 (syst) over 95 (dia) I am resting, sitting up in bed and listening to music but I’m a bit worried it is so high. I’m 71 yrs old, and male. Should I be worried?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dear increased blood pressure means you have to take higher dose of medication with low salt diet, with regular exercise and eating green leafy vegetables is useful. Avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Avoid alcohol intake. If blood pressure not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat with alternate medicine.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
