What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

I have experienced unusually high blood pressure (158/106 and 160/111) twice in the last two weeks. Between those times, it has been more in the 130/94 range (which I know is a bit high as well). Are these higher spikes possible signs/risks of a heart attack or stroke? email address: YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Incidental hike in high blood pressure is psychological strain, but 130/ 94 is a sign of high blood pressure which can be due to age wise hardening of blood vessels/kidney or heart disease.

You need a checkup and needful investigations to know the cause and have specific medicine for basic cause and the blood pressure itself. Please consult a physician.

Regular intake of vitamin C (citrus fruits) and reducing common salt in diet would facilitate improvement. Advised exercise daily is good in high blood pressure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
