What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels Along With Insomnia?

i just went to the dr and my bp reading 170/95 a few months back it was 130/60 I am 95 kilos, I have a virus flue and was quite anxious when it was taken today. Saw new dr she prescribed tablets and sleeping tablets and 24 hour monitor should i wait to see my normal dr and get bp reading done again. I just turned 50 and have not been sleeping in the night time. reg Helen

Hi,

Any physical or mental stress including decreased sleep can result in an increase in blood pressure. I would suggest that you should take adequate sleep of atleast 6-7 hrs in 24 hrs.

Also get your blood investigations done especially Lipid profile, Thyroid profile, and Kidney Function Test.
