What Causes Elevated BP While Suffering From Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I am 62yr. old woman with Rheumatoid Arthritis and hypertension for 18 yrs. Been on Metoprolol Tatrate for blood pressure for last year. My blood pressure has increased in last month to 148/98. I have headaches in morning and red face. Lost my health insurance in Jan 2017 this year, no doctor, just local public clinic who fills my blood pressure. Is this high for me?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your systolic blood pressure is not high but diastolic blood pressure is on higher side.I would advise you to get no checked again when you are in relaxed sitting position for at least 15 mins without any exertion. Also do not forget to take no medication on that day.
Do not worry much about your BP it can be managed.Take balanced diet high in fiber ,low in fat like leafy vegetables, fruits, fish, whole grains etc.Exercise regularly.Your no should be fine after few days.If it's still high kindly get back to me.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
