What Causes Electric Shock Like Sensation In The Penis?

I have bulging disc L4-L5 pain down the leg and lower back pain is normal for me. But now I have electiric pulse like feeelings going to the tip of my penis. I have had over ten years of back pain and a surgery in 2010 and never had this happen. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The nature of the sensation is in keeping with neuropathy which is abnormal function of the nerves.

It is likely related to the changes in your back. The nerves that supply the genitalia emerge from the lower back so with progressive changes, it is possible that these nerves can be compressed.

This compression can then lead to the electric impulses that you are detecting.
Some persons may also describe numbness, tingling, burning, sticking or sharp pain

You may need imaging if there are no recent tests to see take a look at the nerves eg MRI

Treatment would depend on what is seen.

I hope this helps
