What Causes Electric Shock Like Sensation In The Abdomen?

I was getting up from my couch when i had this electric feeling in my left side of my abdomen. Then it started to feel like something pushing out. I have had this happen once before and that time it hurt but only because it lasted for a longer period of time. I havent found anything related to this but was wondering what could cause it.
