What Causes Easy Bruising On The Skin?

My son bruises easily and frequently. He is very tall and skinny. My husband say it s because he has little fat! Tonight I noticed tiny red dots where he said he scratched himself. Is this worrisome? I don t think this type of marking has anything to do with how skinny he is
