What Causes Ear Pain And Excessive Mucous Drainage In The Throat?

I am experiencing what seems to be an earache but has lasted for almost four days. I also feel pain in the base of my skull around behind the left ear and neck region. I also seem to have a little extra mucous when I swallow of cough up intentionally and it seems to be from the left side of my throat. I have a history of migranes but this doesn t feel like a migrane. Sometimes I feel the pain as high up as my eyeball region but it s all on my left side.

Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the excess mucus discharge from the throat with ear pain indicate a bacterial infection of the upper and lower respiratory tract most likely.

My guidelines at present
- gargles with salted lukewarm water added peppermint oil 3 times a day
- tulsi and turmeric for herbal healing properties
- dietary measures to avoid aerated drinks and spices
- take tablet ibuprofen
- swab culture of the discharge from throat with your doctor for best antibiotic preference
