What Causes Dysphagia And Hoarseness?

Recently I have had dyphasia and a hoarse voice. I am having an endoscopy in two weeks, so I guess I will find the problem then, but my guesses are either a Shatzki ring (which my father has) or eosinophilic esophagitis (which my nephew has). My primary care doctor gave me omeprazole to take until I see the gastroenterologist and the dyphasia has been better since taking it. Is this course of action you would recommend?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM. Thanks for the query.
Yes, this is good therapy if there is gastric issue or GERD but in case of throat or laryngeal nerve irritation this may not bew effective. However, endoscopic examination are required for final diagnosis. Till that you should have antiacid medications and diet since most commonly there is irritation or vocal chords due to gastroesophageal reflux.
I hope I have answered you query.
Wish you good heatlh. Regards
