What Causes Dull Pain In My Abdominal Area After A Surgery For Scar Tissue?
Hello I am a 55 year old maale who underwent a laporotomy in May this year to remove scar tisssue from previous surgery which had caused an obstruction in my bowel. Recently I have had a dull pain in my abdomen near the site of the scar and my motions have been a little loose. I have also been feeling sick especially in the morning but have not actually vomited. The sensation is eased by eating. My appetite is good but I am also taking warfarin as a result of a pulmonary embolism resulting from the surgery mentioned above.Any idea what this may be ? Thank you. Neil Mackintosh UK
Hi. Thanks for an elucidate history. The pain in abdomen, nausea, not feeling well; The sensation being eased with eating indicates that most probably you have a problem related to Acid Peptic Disease. I would advise you to undergo an upper GI endoscopy for esophagus, stomach and duodenum; ultrasonography of abdomen and particularly X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. This will help you to get a proper diagnosis and treatment . Till then start of : Soft bland diet, plenty or oral fluids, Small frequent foods. PPI or Ranitidine. ANtacid; Domperidone in consultation of your Doctor.
