What Causes Dull Lower Back Pain Despite Taking Antibiotics For Urine Infection?

Hi. I have a pain in my lower back, which I think is my kidney. I didn t have a uti, or bladder infection. It hurts like a low dull pain, but hurts a lot more when I lift my leg, or lift anything. I had a slight fever, & had infection in my urine. I ve been on an antibiotic (cephalexin) since Monday at 5:00p.m. It has helped, I don t have a fever anymore, & pain isn t as bad as it was...but it still is quite painful! Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Infection might be in your kidney or ureter. Kidney pain is usually located in back which might radiate to thigh or leg if infection has affected your ureter. You are taking antibiotic. Pain will resolved after total clearance of infection. It will take few days.
Advice
1.     Dicyclomine 20 mg every 8 hours per oral for pain
2.     Drink 4 – 5 liters of uncontaminated water to flush out bacteria
3.     Syrup alkaline citrate 2 teaspoonful three times daily for 1 week
4.     Continue cephalexin as suggested by your doctor
5.     Drink fruit juice and cranberry juice
6.     Do not hold your urine. Urinate when you feel
7.     Wipe from front to back after bowel movements
8.     Urinate after having sex to flush bacteria
9.     Investigations
a.     routine examination of urine
b.     culture & sensitivity of urine
c.     ultrasound abdomen and pelvis
