What Causes Dry Throat And Choking Feeling In The Throat?

My throat feels dry or raw, somewhat raspy or rough like I want to swallow some honey to smooth it out. Furthermore I find that I can easily choke when swallowing even the smallest of substances. It has been like this for the last couple of weeks or so.
