What Causes Dry Cough After Taking Irbesartan?

I have been taking Irbesartan tabs for high blood pressure since November when my insurance would no longer cover Benicar. My blood pressure remains under control. I just had total blood work and a check up the first week of March. However, I thought I had this dry cough due to post nasal drip caused by my allergies. As my allergies have subsided, I am beginning to think that the cough, more like a tickle in my throat, not in my chest, could be a result of the change in this medication. Is this common? Could it take that long for me to really develop this side effect. or in the least, begin to concern me?

Hi,

After going through your medical details I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that your that yes Losarten can cause dry cough in some patients.

If you are facing persistent cough then you can consult your treating physician to put you on Telmisartem which has lesser side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
