What Causes Drop In Heart Rate And Blood Pressure During Pregnancy?
hello I have a medical question concerning a pregnant friend of mine. she became severely dehydrated and lost 16 lbs from vomiting , took her to the hospital and her blood pressure dropped a lot down to 85/50 and heart rate was i think 95. they gave her iv fluids like 3 times each time her blood pressure increased and heart rate as well. what made her heart rate and pulse drop so low and why did it go up each time they gave her fluids and will this hurt the baby?
I really understand your concern about your pregnant friend.
Based on your introduction, the low blood pressure was due to severe dehydration (hypovolemic shock) and the heart beats more frequent for compensation.
The IV fluids used to treat her severe dehydration may be Ringer lactat solution, glucose solution or saline solution which aren't harmful and will not hurt the baby.
Her severe dehydration may be from persistent vomiting or diarrhea, or other medical conditions.
