What Causes Drop In Blood Pressure After Cystoscopy?

Just had a cystoscopy performed today. It turned out great but my blood pressure was extremely high and I was instructed to call my physician first thing in the morning. My blood pressure was 200 over 90, then after the procedure it dropped to 193 over 102. How bad is this? Could this just be a side effect of being nervous. I am 53 years old, non smoker, non drinker, no drugs of any kind. I am 5 5 and 195 lbs.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Both of these blood pressures are very high.

These would definitely diagnose you with hypertension and would be classified as stage 2.

With these blood pressures, diet and other lifestyle changes are not likely to be enough.
Your doctor may suggest at least 1 or more medication.

I hope this helps
