What Causes Drainage Of Brown Liquid From Rectum?

I had a sudden, painless discharge of a clear, very slightly reddish brown liquid from my rectum, leaving a wet area on the seat approximately 6 X 4 . I did not even feel it when it happened -- I just felt like I had sat on something wet. However, my pants had a very scant amt of what appeared to be rust colored stool and large watery stain. I have had 3 or 4 episodes of a small amount of bright red blood in my stool in the past 4 or 5 months, but nothing major. I have been having normal stools, but can t always tell when I am done or I feel like I can t get the stool all out. I am a 71 year old female. My mother died from GI cancer, so am a bit concerned.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

You may have condition known as DIVERTICULOSIS,in which there will be small polyps like growths in the large intestine mucosa.
This causes excess mucous secretion and obstruction to the stool ,so you will feel incomplete evacuation.

You have family history of GI cancer, so you should consult a GASTROENTEROLOGIST.
Get a colonoscopy. It will show any growths in the gut.

Take high fiber diet and take plenty of water.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
