What Causes Dizziness While On Aspirin?

I am 90 years old. I complained of a low level of dizziness to my family doctor. He doubled my daily aspirin dosage from 2 81 mg tablets to 4 tablets. I am experiencing a higher and more constant level of dizziness. Could the change be due to the increased aspirin? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, it is quite possible that Aspirin could be the cause of dizziness. Aspirin can cause gastritis, unpleasant sensation in the stomach, pain, bloating, flatulence and dizziness. It would be best to discuss it with your treating physician since there must be a genuine reason for him to have increased the dose.

Other causes of dizziness could be low or high blood sugar levels, low or high blood pressure levels, abnormal electrolyte levels. With elderly persons, postural hypotension is also quite common.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan,
