What Causes Dizziness, Loss Of Appetite, Ringing In Ears And Leg Cramps?

female, 70 slight depression (meds) slight dementia (recent meds) feeling swim headed and loss of appetite, ringing in ears, slight muscle cramps in calves, she had low sodium and chloride 2 weeks ago. she is having extreme thirst and urinating a lot. It is not related to BP or BPmeds. Not retaining fluids. BG has been lingering low.... even after foods. dropping below 70 at night, getting up and eating candy etc to reflex treat her lower BG levels. GPdoc is slow to catch on, 3rd set of labs drawn. Waiting for appt with endo. and internist. I think it is endocrine related issue. she takes thyroid (armor) 30mg.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The loss of appetite, ringing ears and leg cramps wit excess thirst and need of eating candy suggest adrenal gland suppression causing adrenal insufficiency secondary to certain drugs intake with low electrolyte levels.

It is the basic correction of electrolyte levels which will help to relief the symptoms at its best, simultaneously have to discuss the need of alteration in any drug dosage if required for the current medications.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
