What Causes Dizziness, Headache And Dry Mouth In 87 Year Old?

My 87 yr old mother had extreme dry mouth and some dizziness that turned into a head ache today. She had no new medicines. Her caregiver gave her something for anxiety (xanex .25) and she slept for a bit. She said it lasted until about 2:00pm and went away. She is now anxious it will come back tomorrow and since she has not taken any new medicines that it means she has something else very wrong with her. I have no idea, but I am more concerned about the dizziness than the dry mouth, unless they go together. She has had a small ischemic stroke and a tia. Is this something I should caution the caregiver to watch? And is there any action other than getting something to assist with dry mouth?

Thanks for following up. I figured your concern . Dizziness, headache can be symptoms of TIA, ischmic stroke in vertebrobasilar pool, vertigo, osteochondrosis of cervical part of spinal cord.
For dizziness you can use Betahistine Dihydrochloride 16mg -1 tablet trice a day. Please control her BP, Nifedipine(20mg) is used to lower hypertension.
Give Pentoxifylline( Flexital , Kinetal, Trental) -1 tablet 3 times,it can reduce blood viscosity and also improves microcirculation and peripheral tissue oxygenation.uction, called pilocarpine hydrochloride may be prescribed.
For improving saliva I recommend:
-Humidifier to add moisture to the bedroom air
-Sucking on sugar-free lozenges or chewing sugar-free gum
-Keep her hydrated with plenty of water,it will aso help keep mouth moist
-Try to breath through nose, not mouth.
Take care!
